Acoustic mismatch

a discrepancy in transmitting sound


Amplitude

the maximum extent of a vibration


Attenuation

reduction of the amplitude of a signal, electric current, or other oscillation

Enhancement

an increase or improvement in quality, value, or extent

Frequency

the rate per second of a vibration constituting a wave

Probe

Probe is the handheld part of the ultrasound machine, the one containing crystals

Reflection

the throwing back by a body or surface of light, heat, or sound without absorbing it


Refraction

change in direction of propagation of any wave as a result of its travelling at different speeds at different points along the wave front


Resolution

the smallest interval measurable by a scientific instrument; the resolving power


Reverberation

prolongation of a sound; resonance
